Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how NovaMath (“we”, “us”) handles information when you visit novamath.org, use browser modules such as the formula editor and visualization explorer, or use related NovaMath software we distribute.

We design NovaMath for learning and teaching. Our default is to process formula and lesson content on your device or in your browser, and to collect only what we need to run, secure, and improve the site and apps.

Local processing

Formula editing, LaTeX sync, and interactive visualizations primarily run in your browser (or on your device for desktop builds). Your formulas, notes, and exploration state are not uploaded to NovaMath servers as part of ordinary editing or exploring, unless a future feature you explicitly enable requires network sync—and we will describe that clearly before you turn it on.

When you copy LaTeX, export a file, or paste content into another app, that action happens under your control on your device.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Support and feedback: If you email us or contact us via WeChat or other channels listed on the site, we receive the address/ID and content you send (for example bug reports or feature requests).

Information collected automatically

• Website analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic—such as pages viewed, approximate region, device/browser type, and referral sources. Analytics may process identifiers such as IP address according to Google’s practices.
• Hosting and security logs: Our site is served via Cloudflare. Standard request logs (for example IP address, user agent, URL, and timestamps) may be processed to deliver pages, prevent abuse, and keep the service available.
• Software updates: Desktop clients, if you install them, may contact our update endpoints to check for new versions.

We do not require you to create an account to use the core editor or visualization modules on the website today.

Cookies and local storage

• Essential / preference storage: We may store settings such as color theme in your browser’s local storage so the interface remembers your choice.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics may set cookies or similar technologies to distinguish visits and measure usage. See Google’s documentation and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not prevent you from using NovaMath’s core tools; blocking all storage may reset preferences such as theme.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Operate, secure, and improve the website and modules
• Understand which pages and features are useful (in aggregate)
• Respond to support and feedback
• Deliver software updates where applicable
• Comply with legal obligations when required

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We share or process data with service providers only as needed to run NovaMath, including:

• Google Analytics — website analytics
• Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and related security

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of NovaMath and our users.

Children

NovaMath is intended as a learning toolkit that may be used in educational settings. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing purposes. We do not require student accounts for the core browser tools described above. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through support channels, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Retention

Support emails and WeChat conversations are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and maintain ordinary business records. Analytics and hosting logs are retained according to our providers’ defaults and our operational needs, typically in aggregate or short-lived log form. Local preferences remain on your device until you clear site data.

• Disable or limit cookies in your browser

• Clear local storage / site data to remove saved preferences

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of NovaMath after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
