Overview

On the number line, |a| is distance to the origin; |a − b| is the distance between two points.

Explanation

|a| is the distance from a to the origin, so |a| ≥ 0 and |a| = 0 ⇔ a = 0.
|a − b| is the distance between points a and b.
When comparing values or removing absolute bars, first check which side of the origin you are on.

How to use

Drag two points and watch |a|, |b|, and |a − b| update.
